- Students should bring their lesson book and materials to the first lesson.
Instruments and Supplies:

- A portable music stand: ALL students will need this stand to practice in the proper playing position at home, as well as for some concerts and rehearsals.
- Students will be issued a separate tote bag for books, mallets, supplies: lesson books should not be squeezed into the instrument cases as this causes damage to the instrument.
Instrument Rental and Repair Service
- Our school uses the services of Quinlan and Fabish Music Company. You can contact them by calling 630-654-4111 or online at www.qandf.com
- If you need repair service, a representative from Quinlan and Fabish comes to the district once a week to pick up instruments for repair and deliver supplies. When renting from Q & F, they will provide a loaner instrument for your child if his or her instrument should need repair.
Financial Aid and the D41 Lunch Waiver program
- The school district offers a school-instrument loaner to students who qualify for the D41 Lunch Waiver program. Families will need to attend the Band Registration Night to apply for assistance.
- Instruments are limited and applications are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no guarantee of receiving an instrument. Contact Mrs. Pressly for more information.
- Parents are responsible for purchasing books, supplies, reeds for clarinets, oil for trumpets and trombones. The band director does not provide books and supplies.
SmartMusic
- Included in your child’s band registration is a subscription to SmartMusic, which is paid for by the School District.
- All band students use SmartMusic for practice at home. Students receive reward points when they practice with SmartMusic and turn in assignments. Each child in the family needs their own SmartMusic account.
